Cheap vs Quality Blinds

With so many styles of blinds available now on the market it can be rather daunting when it comes to knowing which ones will be right for you. For many, the decision ultimately comes down to the cost.

Cheaper blinds can seem the best option at the time as we feel as though we’re getting a deal, but there are some important factors that need to be considered before you make a final decision, as for those of you looking to buy new blinds, you will want to know just exactly what you are paying the extra money for and how this will benefit you.

Material

The most obvious difference between cheap and expensive blinds is the quality of the material. More expensive blinds are inevitably made to a higher specification and a higher quality.  The material used will be less likely to wear over time compared to a cheaper fabric that can easily rip and tear as they are not made to last for years to come.

The colours will also be more vibrant, solid and even. For instance good quality black out blinds provide 100% blockage from the sun’s rays with their thick and complete block colour, whereas a black out blind made from cheaper material will not block out as much light.

Heat and Damp Resistant

Higher quality blinds are both heat and damp resistant. This makes them ideal for those high traffic areas in the house such as kitchen and bathrooms where moisture lingers for a long time due to regular showering and cooking as they will not be affected by the moisture in the air.  On the other hand, cheaper blinds will need to be replaced more regularly as the thinner material will absorb the moisture and quickly fall subject to damp.

Manufacturers’ Warranty

Most of (if not all) good quality blinds come with a reliable and trusted manufacturers’ warranty. This protects you against any faults or defects that may happen to the blind, giving you peace of mind that, if till under the warranty period, you can get it sorted should you need to.

Maintenance

High quality blinds are much easier to maintain. They can simply be wiped or dusted clean and they’re also much easier to fix if any problems do occur, whereas a cheaper blind is more vulnerable to breakages when cleaning. This makes them ideal for children’s bedrooms as we all know children are more prone to accidents!

Made to measure

The better the quality of blind the better the fit will be. Here at Angel Blinds and Shutters, our blinds are tailored to fit your windows perfectly, such as our made to measure black out blinds that provide complete coverage over the whole window area.

Cheaper blinds will not necessarily be made to measure and therefore could look ill-fitting in your windows with large gaps between the blind and the window frame, so it’s much better to opt for custom-made blinds to ensure a high quality, perfect fitting blind.

Despite the irony, you will find that choosing a more expensive blind will actually save you money in the long-run, as you will endure less repairs and you won’t have to replace them as often which will save you time, money and the headache of having to go to the drawing board all over again when looking for your next set of blinds!
