2016 Colour Design Trends: Blinds and Shutters

If you’re setting up home for the first time, or you’re sprucing up an old room to give it a more contemporary feel, you’ll no doubt be contemplating what textures and colours complement one another. However, something that is practical might not necessarily be modern or on-trend this year.

Each year, Angel Blinds and Shutters look ahead to the upcoming design trends for blinds and shutters, so you can see what colours and design are ‘in’ for 2016.

Wood effect

The natural texture of wood is not only stylish, but elegant too. Guaranteed to accompany a whole array of different interior design styles, they bring warmth and comfort to any room. The neutral colours, usually either white or wood, will not clash with any colour palettes you choose for the rest of the room, making them an attractive choice.

Deep shades

If you aren’t afraid to inject some colour into your room, then consider a bold, statement piece. You’ll be seeing plenty of royal blues, fuschias and vivid purples around this year. Remember, these can always be off-set against neutral-coloured walls, to tone it down a little.

Patterns in muted tones

Gentle, non-offensive patterns in muted tones are on-trend this year. They add depth to a room yet aren’t too overwhelming that they over-shadow other elements, such as lighting and wall colours. A good example of this being soft, floral patterns that brings something to the room without being too overpowering.

Bijoux

This French inspired, decorative style blind has what it takes to really set a room off.  For a touch of glamour and sophistication, you can’t go far wrong with this beautiful, chic blind that goes well with neutral painted walls.

Natural tones

Natural tones, such as beige, light grey and stone are all classic options for a blind. They emit a timeless charm that will last until you next decide to redecorate. Renowned for looking great with any other colours, you don’t have to hold back when it comes to your options.

So there you have it, the colour design trends to keep your eye of out for in 2016. When you’re next in the market for some new blinds or shutters, we recommend you first consider the style that can offer you the practicalities you need, such as privacy, low maintenance etc. and then move on to selecting the fabrics, colours and patterns that best suit your desired room and interior style.
